The Green Cultural Association ViSiLi

The Green Cultural Association, ViSiLi, was founded in 1990 and from the year 1995 it has been maintaining The Green Cultural and Educational Centre, ViSiO. The member organisations of ViSiO promote actively green values and attitudes. Our member field consists of regional and local green party organisations, The Finnish Green League, immigrant organisations and organisations promoting a sustainable lifestyle.

ViSiLi strives to

• work as a committed societal actor promoting sustainable development of the environment and living surroundings.
• give support and provide resources to its member organisations and collaborative partners.
• function as a gateway guiding to lifelong learning and offering a possibility to make a difference in society through dynamic civic activity.

Our values

Social responsibility
• We build and improve possibilities for individuals and organisations to act in civil society.
• We carry our part of the responsibility for minority groups and disadvantaged citizens.

Human rights
• Our policy respects human rights.
• We offer citizens skills and knowledge in helping dignified human life become a reality.

Cultural equality
• Our activities are based on cultural and educational equality.
• We strengthen gender equality in work life and positions of trust.

Publications and cultural activity

ViSiLi has two publication series. Pinko provides learning materials for different fields of study. Pultti acts as a discussion forum in socially current and significant topics. All publications are presented on our homepages. www.visili.fi/julkaisut.htm

The annual ViSiO-prize is awarded on vernal equinox. It is granted on the basis of a first-class idea, campaign, event or a product that is suited for different uses in society. All individuals, groups and organisations are welcome to help in the newly initiated activity.

ViSiLi hosts a cultural summer event every second year and holds writing and photography contests for citizens. These cultural activities make our values better known and support our principal task.
