Special 2003-2006

Special oli Euroopan unionin tukema kolmivuotinen aikuiskoulutuksen kehittämishanke, jossa ViSiO oli mukana. Hankkeessa kehitettiin eurooppalaista aktiivista kansalaisuutta aikuiskoulutuksessa. ViSiOn suomalaisena kumppanina oli Reilun kaupan puolesta ry.

• courses,
• didactic tools and strategies

This will bring European citizenship added value in existing and new adult education courses.

The gap between European citizens and their national and European governments is a well known fact. People willing to become active European citizens need knowledge, skills and the right attitudes concerning democratic structures and active participation.

Therefore it is increasingly important to bring adults in formal, non formal and informal adult education in contact with active participation. To support the learning of adults about democracy, decision making structures at local, national and European levels. Themes of interest are such as the multicultural society, environmental issues, democracy and human rights.

These themes as such are usually not present in adult education curricula, even if some study materials exist. Yet many courses could easily adopt these elements in order to promote active European citizenship. Interesting projects, interactive didactic methods and easier access to appropriate material will help to establish European contacts.
